Let me preface this week’s report with the revelation that my soul has been shaken by a huge event, the death of my beautiful Aquarian
Sibling.
.My sister Laurel was born on January 27th, 1938 with three planets in Aquarius. Highlighting her natal chart were Sun, Jupiter and Venus all conjunct in Aquarius. Laurel was a gifted artist, mother, compassionate friend loved by all She symbolized what I call the true Aquarian Spirit.
As the Aqe of Aquarius gathers momentum helping to produce tumulutous changes,
I am prompted to ask: What is the True Aquarian Spirit?
First of all it is obvious that we all share the Aquarian Spirit no matter when we are born. Second of all their there is no real co-incidence in this New Millennium just magical synchronicity. On Aug. 21st.,2002 Saturn moves into a harmonious trine with Uranus for the first time in 30 years. Both planets are known to share rulership of sign Aquarius. Last time we saw Saturn trine Uranus was 1972-1973. This harmonious energy is available to us all! No matter what our Sun Sign or configuration in our natal chart. The occurrence of this exact 120 degree angle, a positive alignment astrologers call a trine will happen three times in a year: Aug. 21st, Dec. 16th and June 25th 2003!
The dynamics of this trine:
A trine usually symbolizes completion of an event or project in a harmonious way. First of all: Saturn represents solid structures, big business, tradition, the establishment.
Saturn is grounded, conservative, rooted in the practical, disciplined, concerned about what one "should" do or what "should" happen. Saturn is now in the mutable air sign of Gemini. dealing with communications on both collective and personal level. Gemini is also the sign of twins with many news stories about twins and miracles. Second player in this trine: The planet Uranus is the polar opposite of Saturn– independent, progressive, idealistic, humanitarian, revolutionary. Aquarius bringing startling discoveries and shifting social fabric radically. Remember Saturn values tradition and the way things have always been done. Uranus values change and innovation, and looks forward into the future. This trine has been described as :
"the ability to break out of inhibiting or stressful situations. The Saturn/Uranus trine tends to be hard-working, honest and true, determined, ingeniously practical, competitively challenging. Having both a liberal minded and conservative viewpoint. An eye for the new and creative while keeping one's feet on the ground." Wow – is this not the anecdote for today’s conflicts?
Again I ask what is the True Aquarian Spirit?
I began to describe the Aquarian spirit has exhibiting behaviors of kindness, loyalty and honesty towards all. Aquarians are known as humanitarian, philanthropic and keenly interested in making the world a better place. Which is why they focus much of their energy on our social institutions and how they work (or don't work). Aquarians are visionaries, progressive souls who love to spend time thinking about how things can be changed for the better. They are also quick to engage others in this process, which is why they have so many friends and acquaintances. Making the world a better place is a collaborative effort for Aquarians.
As an Aquarian contrarian, I have to say not all Aquarian qualities are totally positive. Aquarians are happy to bestow their ideas as a gift with no strings attached ence the name Water Bearer who is pouring ideas, love and spiritual precepts unto the universe. Of course, Aquarians are much happier when the rest of the world agrees with them. Aquarians are fixed signs and tend to be stubborn with a strong will that insists that it knows what is right for social progress. Since the US is born under an Aquarian Moon as Maya Del Mar says in her Daykeeper Journal “When confronted with a crisis, whether national or individual, this Aquarian Moon nation is much more apt to say "I can" than "I can’t," and then go ahead and do it.”
We must also examine closely that Aquarius is certainly the sign of anarchy the sign of truth, honesty, equality, freedom, independence, living by principles, progressivism, community, humanity, collectively, collaboration and co-operation, helpfulness, mutual aid. Equally as important we need to look at the polar opposite sign Leo now that Jupiter kicks off a year’s stay in Leo Leo is the sign of the self, of true centredness, joy, pleasure, creativity, bravery, leadership, generosity, preparedness, display, performance, drama...more importantly true individuality.
In other words as we enter the Age of Aquarius we need Aquarian qualities, but we also need strong positive Leo qualities. We desperately need heartfullness, real individuality, dignity, steadfastness, creative fun, joyful attitude all of which are Leonine and solar complementing the Uranian genius.
I must re-iterate that we specifally need balance now! Especially since Uranus entered Aquarius January 12, 1996 and stays in the sign of the waterbearer till March 10, 2003 Plus Neptune ingressed in Aquarius on November 27, 1998 and stays there till April 4th , 2011. . Some contrary opinions about the need for Saturn in the Aquarian Age are covered in this excellent article by Gail Sandra Klein.
This coming trine will alow us to bring back Saturn as limiter, Saturn as the sayer of "no", and "stop, you've gone too far", must be allowed to co-rule in the coming Aquarian Age.
Now that we have this unique opportunity of Saturn being in harmonious aspect to Uranus
for a whole year, we should go for it Big Time. We have already seen other experiments of Uranus backfire: communism, and its inverse the ultra free free market of industrialized development. Mad Scientist stuff like cloning, a rate of change and uncertainty in life which has plagued many of us with anxiety disorders and depression. The stability and limits of Saturn are essential for integration into this modern scenario. When we ignore the ancient fateful quality of Saturn, we eventually meet the more severe fatefulness of Pluto.
Humankind in the 20th Century has achieved God-like powers of destruction with nuclear technology,
and of creation with cloning and fertility technology, we left Saturn way in the dust and graduated to Plutonian levels of fate and consequence. Pluto, unlike Saturn, doesn't give many second chances!
Ancient Astrologers had no problem recognizing the limitations of a life or character. These past civilizations paid respect to Saturn and limitation was not a dirty word. Character was judged, 'good' or 'bad', by means of analysis of essential dignities, and planetary strengths and conditions. We have been taught that this limiting approach is more like self-determinism. Afterall we are super educated bunch in the West with more choice of experience from which to learn. We are blessed with more chances to change ourselves. Ye we may have lost respect for fate and for te natural limitations of being human, and the humility that goes with it.
One thing is for sure the true Aquarian Spirit contains a healthy quantity of humility! Humility seems to be the missing element for many leaders in the business world today. We are seeing overwhelming evidence in the news that a house cleaning is occuring in the corporate world CEO’s and Corporations under ample pressure to be honest and to a great degree embrace humility. With the advent of this fortuitous trine of Saturn and Uranus we too will be able to connect with our common humanity. Also on an individual practical level it is great time to update our business systems, start a new business, renovate our old houses, buy new technology or experiment with new ideas. Remember Saturn and Uranus never really let go out of this alignment the entire year. This is can be a year-long period of stability that you can use for your benefit. What a great time to truly embody the Aquarian Spirit.
