Scores arrested at Occupy Boston protest site (Reuters) - Tensions boiled over in the early hours of Tuesday in downtown Boston, where police arrested about 100 protesters after the Occupy Boston group expanded its footprint and was told by authorities to backtrack.
Protesters said late on Monday that police had given participants an ultimatum to return to their small original encampment by nightfall or be moved along.
But it was not until after 1 a.m. ET Tuesday when hundreds of Boston and Transit police officers, some in riot gear, moved in on the group, handcuffing protesters and tearing down tents.
"At 1:30 this morning hundreds of police in full riot gear brutally attacked Occupy Boston," the group said in a news release, adding that authorities "made no distinction between protesters, medics, or legal observers."

Protesters plan to create chaos on Capitol Hill During an evening meeting at Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C., protesters discussed plans to storm Capitol Hill Tuesday and create chaos inside and outside House and Senate office buildings.
“We will have people going in over time into all the different doors of all the different buildings,” said one of the organizers of the “Stop the Machine” movement to roughly 100 assembled protesters.
“Stop the Machine” was organized in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the American invasion of Afghanistan and is distinct from the Occupy D.C. movement currently occupying McPherson Square.
At an appointed time and in a particular office building — both of which will be named at a meeting in Freedom Plaza Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. — the protesters plan to create a ruckus which they hope will shut down work on Capitol Hill.

Ordinary people are doing it hard because of ongoing global recessions that have caused frustration and immense financial difficulties for them, which is what the ruling elite have planned all along – to steal the people's wealth and their liberties.
Although the blank faces have designed, implemented and manipulated the global economic downturn, the ruling elite are losing control of the situation because things are different this time around. Exclusive: Computer Virus Hits U.S. Drone Fleet A computer virus has infected the cockpits of America’s Predator and Reaper drones, logging pilots’ every keystroke as they remotely fly missions over Afghanistan and other warzones.
The virus, first detected nearly two weeks ago by the military’s Host-Based Security System, has not prevented pilots at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada from flying their missions overseas. Nor have there been any confirmed incidents of classified information being lost or sent to an outside source. But the virus has resisted multiple efforts to remove it from Creech’s computers, network security specialists say. And the infection underscores the ongoing security risks in what has become the U.S. military’s most important weapons system.
“We keep wiping it off, and it keeps coming back,” says a source familiar with the network infection, one of three that told Danger Room about the virus. “We think it’s benign. But we just don’t know.”
Military network security specialists aren’t sure whether the virus and its so-called “keylogger” payload were introduced intentionally or by accident; it may be a common piece of malware that just happened to make its way into these sensitive networks.

Riots over church attack in Egypt kill 19 CAIRO (AP) - Massive clashes that drew in Christians angry over a recent church attack, Muslims, and Egyptian security forces raged over a large section of downtown Cairo Sunday night, leaving at least 19 people dead and more than 150 injured, Health Ministry officials said. It was the worst violence since the 18-day uprising that ousted Hosni Mubarak in February.
The ongoing clashes lasted late into the night, bringing out a deployment of more than 1,000 security forces and armored vehicles to defend the state television building along the Nile, where the trouble began. The clashes spread to nearby Tahrir Square and the area around it, drawing in thousands of people. The incident occurred at The Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum around 3:15 pm (1915 GMT), after hundreds of activists had marched from Freedom Plaza, near the White House, along the National Mall towards the US Capitol.
Some of those in the demonstration were affiliated with the Occupy DC protest group that sprung up earlier this week as a spin-off of the larger Occupy Wall Street movement in New York, angered at "corporate greed."

"Under this bill, if a young couple plans a wedding in Amsterdam, and as part of the wedding, they plan to buy the bridal party some marijuana, they would be subject to prosecution," said Bill Piper, director of national affairs for the Drug Policy Alliance, which advocates for reforming the country's drug laws. "The strange thing is that the purchase of and smoking the marijuana while you're there wouldn't be illegal. But this law would make planning the wedding from the U.S. a federal crime."
The law could also potentially affect academics and medical professionals. For example, a U.S. doctor who works with overseas doctors or government officials on needle exchange programs could be subject to criminal prosecution. A U.S. resident who advises someone in another country on how to grow marijuana or how to run a medical marijuana dispensary would also be in violation of the new law, even if medical marijuana is legal in the country where the recipient of the advice resides.

The state's four U.S. attorneys sent letters Wednesday and Thursday notifying at least 16 pot shops or their landlords that they are violating federal drug laws, even though medical marijuana is legal in California. The crash happened at around 3:22 p.m. shortly after taking off from the 34th Street helipad. NYPD spokesman Paul Browne told CBS 2 that five people were on-board the helicopter including the pilot identified as Paul Dudley, who is the manager of the Linden helipad.
CBS 2's Derricke Dennis spoke with an eye-witness, who saw the helicopter shortly after it crashed. That witness said he saw the submerging helicopter begin drifting down the river.

CBS News Reporter Says White House Screamed, Swore at Her Over Fast and Furious The Fast and Furious scandal, in which the Justice Department knowingly gave Mexican criminal gangs thousands of guns, just keeps escalating. The latest development centers around whether or not Attorney General Eric Holder lied to Congress about having knowledge of the controversial gun trafficking operation. Recently released documents say Holder was briefed about the operation long before he told the Judiciary Committee he was first aware of what was going on. What's more, CBS News investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson -- who's been covering the scandal from the beginning -- says in an interview on the Laura Ingraham Show today that the White House and Justice Department have taken to screaming at her for reporting on the story. In between the yelling that I received from Justice Department yesterday, the spokeswoman--who would not put anything in writing, I was asking for her explanation so there would be clarity and no confusion later over what had been said, she wouldn't put anything in writing--so we talked on the phone and she said things such as the question Holder answered was different than the one he asked. But he phrased it, he said very explicitly, 'I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks.'

Fire Chief David Hudgins says he's not sure what chemicals were involved in the fire that broke out before 11 a.m. Monday at a Magnablend, Inc., facility in Waxahachie, located about 30 miles south of Dallas. No serious injuries were reported.
Hudgins says the fire should be brought under control by late afternoon and that about 1,000 evacuated residents should be allowed to return to their homes.

Google announced Saturday that news organizations can now add "standout" metadata tags to stories they're proudest of — like exclusives, scoops and investigative projects — and the U.S. edition of Google News will consider including a "featured" label with the story on its news homepage and in search results. There's no guarantee a story tagged this way will be featured, but Google's algorithm will factor the tag into its decisions, the company said.
"We can showcase that standout piece of journalism in Google News by putting a 'featured' label in front of it," said Google News product specialist David Smydra, who announced the new option at the Online News Association conference in Boston. "And that featured label will help that article persist while other news organizations are following and developing their coverage on that story."
There will be such a thing as too much self-promotion. If a news provider puts the standout tag on more than seven stories in a week, the algorithm won't factor it in as much, or may ignore it entirely, Google says.

One sign being carried around read, “A government is an entity which holds the monopolistic right to initiate force,” which seems a little ironic when protesters complain about being physically assaulted by police in the same breath.

Breaking – More Police Assaults And Mass Arrests Of Mile Long Crowd Of #OccupyWallStreet Protestors Happening live as I write, NYPD police officers have launched new round of mass arrests and brutal assaults against Occupy Wall street protestors. I have watched over 20 people get arrested live so far. Reports say up to 300 have been arrested after the police tricked protestors into splitting up and directed them in the direction of the Brooklyn Bridge as part of Crowd dispersal techniques. NY Times reporter Colin Moynihan reported his colleague, freelance reporter working for The Times, Natasha Lennard was arrested.
Both sides of the Brooklyn Bridge have been closed off as the line of protestors stretch from end to end. From the west side of the Brooklyn Bridge the line is reported to stretch all the way back to liberty park. There is also a second line stretching back toward city hall, were protestors approached before but the gates were closed to prevent a shut down like the scene reminiscent of Egypt that occurred at NYPD headquarters yesterday. Once diverted from city hall toward the Brooklyn Bridge, protestors had planned on regrouping at Brooklyn Bridge Park but after the bridge filled with protestors, police blocked off both sides. The police are now making there way across the bridge arresting on person at a time and hauling them off in a patty wagon.
While the police led the crowd onto the bridge only to arrest them, they will use the justification the crowd was blocking traffic. They only problem is the NY Times reporter arrested for the crowd already put out the word that the police directed and aloud the crowd to go that way. The question is will the media lie for the NYPD or tell the truth?

Several beekeepers in the county have reported lost colonies this week. Charles Smith of Smith Family Honey Company told Stuart News Thursday he lost 400 beehives. He says the bees appeared to have been poisoned.
“I’ll never get completely compensated for this unless someone handed me 400 beehives,” Smith told Stuart News. “I lost the bees, the ability to make honey and the ability to sell the bees.”
