We began to hear stories of a "real democratic revolution" going on in Bolivia - an authentic grassroots movment. This was not some phony Chalabi/Bush Iraqi election PR coup. Perhaps those who inhabit the Northern Hemisphere are still stunned in disbelief. The background of what occured in those amazing days in May/June 2005 are so inspiring that we wonder why more journalists in Europe and US haven't been shouting this from the roof tops.
Looking back the last three years
The story unfolds of ordinary blue collar Bolivians who fighting to get rid of the stranglehold that transnational corporations have on Bolivia’s economy. They are also fighting to strip power away from a political elite who they view as in bed with the transnationals--as vendepatrias (corrupt officials willing to sell off Bolivia’s patrimony on the cheap).
Bolivia is a nation of fire and earth sitting on top of the world. It's people as signified by the moon in Taurus in the sixth are earthy, stubborn and persevering connected with agriculture and Gaiai. These indigenous whether Quechua or Aymara are sensitive to the concept of service and routine. Leaders and government (Sun and Jupiter in Leo in 10th) are proud and risk taking there is even the element of hero worship harking back to the days of Simon Bolivar. With both Sun and Jupiter (excess) in Leo - the children are core to the spirit of Boivia.
War and Peace - Mars and Venus The physical initiative, vitality and agressiveness of the Bolivia's moves in a sidways manner like the crab - foundation chart shows Mars at 23Cancer. The energy that represents peace, the arts, music, money and women is in versatile gemini and can be dualistic.

Fated change: Saturn at 19Gemini Opposes N Node 18Sagittarius
Saturn represents the infrastructure of miners that toil daily to extract the minerals from the earth. The Moon's N Node in Sagittarius tells of the beliefs and myths have always confronted the superficial infrastructure of Bolivia's government and bureacracy.
With transiting Pluto creating a need to eliminate outworn governments and hitting both points, the first quarter of 2003 saw extensive civil riots and looting and loss of confidence in the government. The beginning of the astrological time period was December 28, 2002 as Pluto joined the movement towards the future at 18 Sagittarius12.
Into the Streets May 2005
Since May 17th, tens of thousands of Bolivians have flooded the streets, blockaded highways, and laid seige to Congress, demanding the nationalization of hydrocarbons, successfully forcing the resignation of sellout President Carlos Mesa. Carlos was a US backed imperialist pawn. Thousands of Bolivians, the majority indigenous were calling for Congress to be replaced by a People's Assembly.
These actions are being coordinated by a broad coalition made up of members of the El Alto Regional Workers' Federation, Aymara campesinos from across the altiplano, a rural teachers' union, miners' groups, the landless peasants' movement, unemployed workers' organizations, student groups, coca farmers, and many others.
Of course, you would never hear the voices of these groups in the corporate media, which has been falling all over itself to cover the reactions of the transnational corporations that are slated to lose money if Bolivia's resources fall into the hands of Bolivia's people. bolivia.indymedia.org chronicles the historic events of June.
