Like his hero John Wayne
Like many of those from the War Generation have chosen John Wayne as their role model.
Is he a war hero or genocidal monster? It appears that he with agressive, risk taking tendencies (Mars/15 Aries in grand trine to Sun 16 Sagittarius (idealistic adventure) and the wounded healer showing an in-ordinate need for recognition (Chiron/14Leo and perhaps Moon in Leo.)

Fanatical Aspects Dominate: Duke has his sense of purpose (Sun/16Sagittarius ) in almost exact opposition to excess of diverse convictions and beliefs (Jupiter/16Gemini) - the hypocritcal true believer. Zealot of the religious right who has created enemies during his 8 terms.

Duke is definitely a two-sided individual with this mutable aspect in full force (Jupiter in Gemini - not sure which side of his mouth to utter lies). His type of communication and speech making emanates from Mercury/Sagittarius (debilitated or weak position) - he is the born story teller and philosopher who talks fast with embellishment and embraces evangelical religion as a means to manipultate his constituenccy and fortunes.

Cunningham's individuality and need for freedom makes him highly social (Venus/2Aquarius) and is opposed Power Hungry (Pluto/4Leo). It appears that "Duke" will do or say anything to promote his right wing agenda taking $ from the most conservative parts of the San Diego community offering myriad promises that can't be kept.

On July 1, 2005 the day of the raid, transiting Mars is waxing toward a conjunction to his natal Mars and N Node also in Aries while opposing the excess of justice (Jupiter/Libra). Outside action that is both swift and agressive by the Feds to investigate his double dealings with Defense Contractor MZM.

Within the next week we will see this investigation start to blow up in the media, unless the Fake News thinks they can keep a lid on it. No wonder Duke's critics have had such a hard time despite the overwhelming evidence of his genocidal position and continual lies.
