We all sit in anticipation of when the trigger will be pulled to launch a war against Iraq. We wonder what event will force the issue? Will it be this full moon on March 18th? Even with the multitude of worldwide demonstrations against this possible second Gulf War, we all seem to think that a Middle-East War is inevitable.Somehow the Mars/Pluto activation of Feb.19th was not the right timing to cause such a conflagration. Yet today, 3/16/03, as I write this report the latest news from the Azores Summit is Tomorrow is a moment of truth for the world," . Apparently GW Bush, British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar all have come to the conclusion that the 250,000 troops ringing Iraq are ready to act with or without U.N. approval.Those of us who wish for a peaceful resolution may meet today's events with disappointment. Yet it is only our prayers and grace that held off an attack on the last new moon of March 3rd. We are within a few days March 22nd of a Pluto at 19 Sag. station and turn retrograde which may signal war with the dark of the moon. As we approach this momentous full moon on March 18th our prayers grow stronger and we have the opportunity to embrace a powerful spiritual event - a grand mutable cross!

It is important to remember that this Full Moon at 27° Virgo forms one arm of a grand mutable cross - the other arm being a waning Pluto at 19 ° Sagittarius in opposition to Saturn at 22 ° Gemini. In astrology a grand cross includes all four elements, representing four stages of our reality. We must realize that these four elements need to be balanced and integrated:in our lives. The elements are represented respectively: the Moon in (Virgo/earth) for the physical, the Sun in (Pisces/water) for emotionl, Saturn which represented by mental (Gemini/air), and Pluto in (Sagittarius/fire)the spiritiual. Thus Saturn and Pluto both square the Full Moon in Virgo and Sun in Pisces; this creates a grand cross, which involves four squares as well as the two oppositions. For many of us a mutable square will create a total shift in perspective and emotions. With this lunation, Saturn squares the Sun and can instill a sense of sobriety; Pluto (with a wide orb) squares the Sun to encourage truth. Saturn squares the Moon which demands responsibility; Pluto square the Moon to reveal true security. This cross is in mutable elements so that we have the power to change circumstances in our lives by balancing each of the arms with the power of faith and belief (Piscean).

I have mentioned before that Saturn turning direct on Feb. 22nd has crossed over the 21st ° of Mars in the US Silbey chart . Also note that Pluto the planet of force and power has crossed over the Sagittarian ascendant of the US Chart and will soon retrograde 00:12 a.m EST on March 23 for an intense evaluation of power. George Bush has Pluto conjunct Mercury on his ascendant in Leo causing him to evaluate how to use the tremendous power as Commander and Chief. The cardinal or action oriented sign of Capricorn is inhabited by Mars is at 8 °Capricorn and moving close to oppostion to the US Sun at 13 ° Cancer and will reach an exact opposition on March 24th (BGT) Baghdad General Time!.

The last full moon on February 16th was highlighted by many aspects and one notable being Jupiter in Leo in opposition to Neptune in Aquarius. Besides causing a preponderance of both fananticism and propaganda on both sides the Jupiter/Neptune opposition has created distrust and misunderstanding. Also we may find delusions of grandeur, as emphasized in this quote from Bob Woodward’s book Bush at War Woodward quotes Bush as saying: "I’m the commander – see, I don’t need to explain. I do not need to explain why I say things. That’s the interesting thing about being the president. Maybe somebody needs to explain to me why they say something, but I don’t feel like I owe anybody an explanation."

There is hope my friends! Notice that this March Full moon has a predominance of water signs mostly represented by Piscean planets and asteroids. The lineup includes Sun,, Mercury, Uranus and Pallas the theme of emotion, compassion and suffering are highlighted. As a mutable water sign Pisces allows us to truly get in touch with the worlds suffering. Pisces also opens the door to healing and love and soon Venus will change signs into Pisces (where she is exalted) on March 27th. With the recent advent of Uranus into Pisces on March 12th. many new forms of music, poetry and art are thriving to bring the spiritual waters to our lips. We are just beginning to see how new forms of music can both inspire and heal our souls. We must also note there is a rising of the people in reaction to the negative misuse of power by both governments along with the righteous anger towards the destructive medical techniques by the AMA and others. With Pluto turning retrograde on March 23 right after this Mutable Moon of Magic, our power to heal will only get stronger!

Finally we come to realize that the mutability of this full moon depends on our inner choice.To help with this process we need to examine the the Sabian Symbols for the Moon and Sun as described by Dane Rudhyar in his book An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and Its 360 Symbolic Phases The Sabian Symbols help us receive clarity into the choice that confronts our world. First of all the moon is set for 27Virgo 25 which translates to 28° Virgo, and reads: "A baldheaded man who has seized power … we face the unpostponable necessity for decision and transformation." Will we become part of the problem of violence and domination or part of the solution involving peace. The Sabian symbol for the sun at 28° Pisces tells us of the rich rewards of making the right choices: "A fertile garden under the Full Moon reveals a variety of full-grown vegetables; the full satisfaction of the individual’s basic needs." The time has come to cultivate both our inner and outer spiritual, mental, emotional and physical gardens with the waters of love. This Great Mutalble Cross of March 18th signifies a time when we should not be crucified by the news of the world! Rather to quote a radio reporter "Scoop" Misker: "If you don't like the news, go out and make some of your own!"
