Watery Neptune the planet of confusion, illusion and spirituality dominates the scene the week of May 12th, 2003.
We are treated to a three separate blasts of power from Poseidon (Neptune) and his trident.

Mythological background:
In ancient myth, Poseidon would strike the ground with his three pronged trident.and cause gushing springs and earthquakes, ship wrecks, and drownings. Poseidon is the son of Cronus and Rhea, he is one of six siblings ( Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Zeus) who eventually "divided the power of the world." He is the brother of Zeus (Jupiter) and second only in power amongst the gods. Poseidon became ruler of the sea, Zeus ruled the sky, and Hades the underworld. The other divinities attributed to Poseidon involve the god of earthquakes and the god of horses (recently we saw evidence of Neptunian confusion over whether wining jockey Jose Santos cheated as his steed Funny Cide strode victory in the 129th running of the Kentucky Derby).

Poseidon's first blast occurred on May 12th and 13th with Mercury retrograde at 12°Taurus forming a square to Mars 12° and Neptune13° Aquarius.
This aspect can be highly volatile especially when combined with the kind of fanaticism portrayed by the Neptune/Mars applying conjunction. in Aquarius (the sign of revolution and reform). We have already seen two major incidences of violence.
The First One in Saudia Arabia where three primary explosions (trident at work) AP Photo Officials Say 20 to 91 have been killed in Saudi Blasts. These blasts were obviously timed to coincide with Secretary Powell's Saudi Visit - seems that this is work of Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda fanatics. It is clear that terrorists are acting on the anti-American sentiment fueled by 5,000 American troops stationed in Saudi Arabia. We should all be aware that using astrocartography we see that GW Bush has a Pluto MC Line running right thru Syria, Iraq and Saudia Arabia meaning this region can be the start to a dramatic crisis in your life. You may be dismissed from your job, your company could go bankrupt, or you could become ill and be forced to give up work. The force of such events mercilessly illustrates your own helplessness.
The Second Incident was another bombing:MOSCOW, Russia (CNN) -- The death toll has risen to 37, with another 200 injured, after a truck laden with explosives was driven by a suicide bomber into government buildings in Chechnya. Again we have the theme of terrorist acts perpetrated by rebels with nothing to lose as they fight against destruction of their way of life. In this case they are seeking to destroy the political settlement between the Kremlin and Chechen leaders. Russian leader V. Putin has Venus at 11° Scorpio conjuncting transiting Juno, making him vulnerable to the current fixed cross stirred by the Mars/Neptune T Square to Mercury and Jupiter.

Lest we forget Jupiter(brother to Zeus), the principle of exaggeration and optimism, is involved in the opposition to Neptune until early June. This week Jupiter at 10° is getting closer to a third and final opposition on June 2nd and adding a fiery element to both a T-Square from Mercury in Taurus and a Grand Cross. Stubborness and outright resistance is peaking this week as Fixed Signs dominate especially with the other arm of a Grand Fixed Cross being Juno (Hera) at 10° Scorpio 26'' but retrograde so moving away from exacting aspects. Lest we forget Juno(one of Poseidon's siblings), "the Queen of the Gods," was the wife of Jupiter. She angrily endured her husband's legendary unfaithfulness while her fidelity to him was well known.
The element that Juno adds is the spotlighting the issues of inequality and injustice that can erupt between partners. We are starting to see much of that inequality with impending meetings between Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas - a meeting brokered by Sect. Powell for the purpose bolstering Israeli power and ending all Palestinian resistance, once and for all. This inequality is also evident in the the resignation on May 12th of International Development Secretary Clare Short from the British cabinet. Clare quite due to Taurean Tony Blair's reckless, bullish stance on military action in Iraq and the subsequent resolution to give unequal postions to the UN's role in rebuilding Iraq! In Tony Blair's chart via AstroBank we see his moon at 11° Aquarius square his Sun at 15° Taurus and he will surely be buffeted by all the arms of this fixed cross coming under the spell of Mars/Neptune restless confusion.

Particular focus on the domain that Neptune's rules
Neptune besides ruling perfumes, gas, smoke, fog, haze (GLENVIEW, Illinois hazing incident) definitely rules drugs and their effects. Notice that the American occupation of Iraq has opened the flood gates for the trafficking of heroin and cocaine. In fact as Neptune/Mars approach conjunction on May 14th, we began seeing stories from papers like the British Independent about drugs returning to the alleys of Baghdad Anger is growing among Iraqis at the Allies' failure to restore order in a cityawash with weapons and gangs. Heroin – banned under Saddam Hussein's dictatorship upon pain of hanging - is now being traded in back streets.
Besides terror and subterfuge, we should be aware that Nepune rules both water and oil. Over the last few days we have seen both flooding and witnessed deadly tornadoes wreak havoc in the heartland of America. There is also the possibility of an oil tankers running aground to cause oil spills.
Well on Wednesday May 14th the Oceans did hit the news wires: Scientists: Only 10 Percent of Big Ocean Fish Left Wed May 14, 3:14 PM ET LONDON (Reuters) - Large predatory fish -- marlin, tuna and swordfish -- are disappearing from the world's oceans, with their numbers down by 90 percent in the past 50 years, Canadian scientists said on Wednesday Let's hope that Poseidon doesn't get too pissed off and start striking the ground with his trident! Can you spell Tsunami?!

Mars and Neptune Conjunction
On May 14th the two very disimilar planets join at 13°Aquarius 11''. Mars the heroic figure of acton and militaristic demeanor meets Neptune the higher octave of Venus - a place of true spirituality dissolving everything it meets. Neptune is a world of fantasy, delusion and imagination.
Normally Mars-Neptune conjunctions occur at intervals of about two years on average. Sometimes they happen more frequently and in the case of Neptune in Aquarius, the 1999 conjunction marks the first of the Aquarian series of these alignments which continue until 2011. Most importantly this May 14th, 2003 conjunction occurs when Mars is moving to a near perigee (closest approach to Earth) in fact on Aug 27th Mars will be at it's closest position to the earth in recorded history! At such points of perigee Mars becomes much more prominent and destructive augmented by these close passages to the Earth.
Some of the previous Aquarian series of conjunctions took place:
Between 371 and 372, when Huns swept across Asia, and invaded the lower Volga valley, and move westward, pushing the Ostrogoths (Eastern Goths) and Visigoths (Western Goths) into the Roman Empire.
Also in December of 1508 when London houses received piped water again, for the first time in over a thousand years, since the time of the Romans. Water Bearer improves conditions.

Then in 1834 and 1845 (a period which included the Mexican-American War which another famous Aquarian Abe Lincoln vehemetly opposed!), and the next series of Neptune/Mars conjunctions in Aquarius happen between 2161 to 2174.
This conjunction has characteristics of extremism - sometimes we see a swing from the sublimely inspirational to fanaticaly cruel and sadistic.. This alignment consistently demonstrates a type of charade, subterfuge and subtlety working behind the scenes. Mars/Neptune conjunctions are the stuff of magic and they have a way of making the impossible seem attainable, even easy. We should also remember that Mars/Neptune can make miracles seem like commonplace occurences if channeled properly.

Mars/Neptune Conjunction aligns with Black Hole Kybelle(Cybele) and Attis
This alignment occurs at a11/12° Aquarius for Kybelle and Attis at 12/13°Aquarius - Credit should go to Alex Miller-Mignone wrote the Black Hole Book According to western Anatolia Myths (i.e. the inland districts of central and western Turkey) .Kybelle was so in love with her son Attis, that she begged him to never marry so as to stay close to her. Attis took his misguided loyalty and devotion to a tragic stage by castrating himself to only die under a pine tree. From his blood sprang violets while the tree took care of his spirit. Body and spirit might have been safe, but still his flesh would have decayed had not Zeus stepped in to aid Cybele in Attis' resurrection. From this legend was spawned the cult of Attis and ultimately the Christian custom of trimming the fir tree. We may see many of the negative effects of the complete detachment and harsh self sacrifice demonstrated by the energy to the Attis and Kybelle Black Holes. Hopefully the world collective will turn to spiritual maturity instead of self immolation or suicide bombing.
Besides Kybelle(Cybele) and Attis we also have a little known fixed star DORSUM rising at 13AQU51.which is found on the back of the Constellation Goat, Capricornus. Dorsum is from Latin, "the back" According to Vivian E. Robson in The Fixed Stars and Constellations in Astrology Dorsum has the combined nature of Saturn and Jupiter and is of unfortunate influence. When combined with Mars: there is danger of bites from venomous creatures. Some of these venomous crawling critters may just be the figment of our imaginations run wild.

Finally Neptune will station on May 15th to turn retrograde.
During the time of stationing is when Neptune is most powerful. demonstrate his true power leading up to the Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse on May 16th!
As Maya Del Mar says Neptune encourages illusion, glamour, addiction, fantasy, and denial. As a collective psychological dynamic our nation may awake from a drugged like denial as Neptune takes us deeper into our inner re-evaluation of our own reality. More then ever we need sobriety from the illusions which our own despotic leaders have conjured. It is time to stop this insane push into martial conflict with anyone that doesn't accept our doctrines. Using the ally of hindsight, we see that Greek myth says that Poseidon could be cooperative and it was he who helped the Greeks during the Trojan War. Afterall Poseidon was relied upon by sailors for a safe voyage on the sea. We need to pray for a safe voyage on the seas of turbulent times.

The Matrix as a theme for Neptune in Aquarius.
Also on May 15th when Neptune stations in Aquarius, the long anticpated movie “The Matrix Reloaded” debuts. This triology is really a revolt against the machines and possibly some of worst aspects of Neptune in Aquarius. Aquarius rules computers and software and the accompanying traps of using technology. Even though the passage of Neptune into Aquarius from 1998 to 2012 will surely usher in the Age of Aquarius, there is an impersonal and cool/distant energy with Aquarius. Neptune and Uranus passage thru Aquarius has created a virtual world of the internet which threatens to engulf much of our humaness if left in the wrong hands. In many ways The Matrix is like Neptune based on an illusion of virtuosity that keeps us all prisoners. To escape from The Matrix and its Agents, we need more then the World Wide Web. We need more then a red pill. We need to embrace the eternal spirit as emphasized by the postive side of Neptune in Aquarius.
In conclusion remember there is an overwhelming postive side of all this Neptunian energy. Neptune is both synonymous with a tremendous creative imagination that may usher in new powerful artistic forms especially in the realm of music and visual artistry. As Neptune culminates with these aspects, we will have the opportunity to open a portal to higher dimensions of spirituality.
